National Girls & Women in Sports Day – What It Means To Senator Nation
Today is National Girls & Women in Sports Day (NGWSD).
We’d like to commemorate this special day by going directly to the best spokeswomen possible: The proud young women who represent Davis & Elkins College and Senator Nation. We asked what athletics meant to them; here are a few responses:
“I play softball because being a part of a team is like having another family.” – D&E women’s softball player, sophomore.
“Athletics give women the opportunity to build confidence, break stereotypes, and compete without limits. Women and girls are so often torn down and compared to each other, but sports give women the space to support one another, grow, and thrive together.” – D&E women’s lacrosse team member, sophomore.
“Sports have opened doors for me that would otherwise have remained invisible. They have been an asset, making me stronger and propelling me closer to making a meaningful difference in the world.” D&E women’s golf athlete, senior.
“We get to . . . (well, just look at the photos!)” – D&E women’s lacrosse team member, sophomore.
Thank you for making our community proud, Senators 🤍❤️🤍
