The TIF Advisory Committee meets Monday to review firms for the city’s downtown streetscape and riverfront projects. Utility and in-city Fire & Rescue Fee bills are due Sunday, September 20, and September bulk pickup concludes this week.

The TIF Advisory Committee meets Monday at 1 p.m. at the Phil Gainer Community Center to review Statements of Qualifications received for professional planning, engineering, urban design, and related services for the Downtown Streetscape Improvements and Riverfront Redevelopment & Beautification projects. The committee will select three firms for subsequent interviews as part of the city’s §5G procurement process.

September bulk pickup concludes this week. Thursday-route customers will receive bulk pickup Thursday, September 24, and Friday-route customers will receive bulk pickup Friday, September 25. Customers may dispose of one bulk item per month at no additional charge. Items should be placed curbside no later than 6 a.m. on the scheduled pickup day, even if regular household trash is collected in an alley. The Elkins Police Department is accepting applications from certified and non-certified candidates for Police Civil Service testing on Saturday, October 17. Financial incentives are available for all new officers appointed to the department. Entry-level testing includes a physical fitness test, a written test, and interviews.
