Elkins Mayor Jerry A. Marco Sworn In as President of West Virginia Municipal League
ELKINS, W.Va. — Aug. 7, 2026 — Elkins Mayor Jerry A. Marco was sworn in as president of the West Virginia Municipal League (WVML) for the 2026–2027 term during an Aug. 6 ceremony in Charleston. Outgoing president and Charleston Mayor Amy Shuler Goodwin (shown in above photo, left) passed the gavel to Mayor Marco, who was elected by his fellow municipal leaders from across the state.
As president, Mayor Marco will have a leading role in setting the league’s policy direction, serve on its legislative policy committee, represent the organization publicly, and host the annual President’s Breakfast welcoming new members.
The West Virginia Municipal League is a statewide, nonprofit, nonpartisan association representing West Virginia’s cities, towns, and villages. Since 1968, WVML has supported municipal governments through legislative advocacy, research, education, training, and other services for municipal officials. Its membership includes all 230 municipalities in West Virginia.
Mayor Marco’s service as WVML president gives Elkins a direct role in statewide discussions concerning municipal government and an opportunity to bring the needs and perspectives of communities such as Elkins into the league’s legislative and policy work.
Marco previously served as WVML vice president. He also serves on the National League of Cities Small Cities Council, which provides a forum for municipal leaders to share ideas and develop policy recommendations concerning issues affecting smaller communities nationwide.
