The Elfkins Committee is a civic all-volunteer group that organizes holiday events in Elkins, including having a role in the annual “Elkins‑to‑Elfkins” name change tradition.

What is "Elfkins" About?
The Elfkins committee is the creative force behind the “Elkins-to-Elfkins” tradition, which dates back to 2022. Each year, the mayor of Elkins issues a proclamation temporarily changing the town’s name to “Elfkins” for the holiday season.
While the Elfkins committee is not an official City committee, its volunteers work year-round to partner with local businesses and organizations to bring festive cheer to the community with a full calendar of seasonal events. As of August 2026, the committee is working on achieving 501(c)(3), or nonprofit, status.
