EPRC Receives $75,000 Donation for Bluegrass Park Renovations

ELKINS, W.Va. — June 24, 2026 — The Elkins Parks & Recreation Commission (EPRC) has received a $75,000 donation from Davis Trust Company to support ongoing improvements and renovations at Bluegrass Park. Leaders from Davis Trust and EPRC announced the donation during the bank’s 125th anniversary block party celebration in downtown Elkins on June 19.

“Celebrating 125 years of community banking is an extraordinary milestone, and we felt it was important to mark the occasion by investing in projects that will benefit our community long after the anniversary has passed. Our success has always been connected to the success of the people and communities we serve,” said Hoy Ferguson, president of Davis Trust Company.

In addition, Davis Trust Company contributed $1,250 to Citizens Promoting Community in support of the City’s Fourth of July Parade. In addition to presenting year-round events, Citizens Promoting Community has been organizing the annual parade and other community events for Elkins’ America 250 celebrations.

These contributions are part of the bank’s anniversary observance. Discussions among bank management began in January 2025, and the proposal was formally presented to the bank’s Board of Directors in March 2025.

“We are grateful for Davis Trust Company’s investment in our community’s parks and public spaces,” said Elkins Mayor Jerry Marco. “These improvements will serve Elkins residents and visitors for years to come.”

Davis Trust Company has also made recent contributions to several other local organizations, including Augusta Heritage Center, Interact Children’s Museum, Randolph County Schools, and Davis & Elkins College.

Beyond community investments, Davis Trust Company employees volunteer hundreds of hours each year with local nonprofits, schools, civic organizations, and community events.

The Bluegrass Park renovation project is ongoing. For more information about the project or other City of Elkins initiatives, contact EPRC.
