Elkins Tree Board Hosting Annual Winter Walk Tomorrow, Feb. 14
The Elkins Tree Board will hold its annual Winter Walk tomorrow, Saturday, February 14, at 10 a.m. at Glendale Park in Elkins. The free event, titled “Bark, Birds and Bugs,” is open to the public and will focus on identifying tree species in winter using bark and other features, as well as observing insects and birds.
Participants will have the opportunity to take part in a scavenger hunt and learn from tree board members. Birder Jim Fregonara will also be available to help anyone joining tomorrow’s walk with bird identification. The event coincides with Audubon’s Annual Bird Count; any sightings will be submitted to support that international effort.
Attendees are asked to meet at the first pavilion near the park entrance and to dress warmly. Binoculars are recommended; a limited number will be available on-site. For weather-related updates, organizers suggest checking and following the Elkins Friends of Trees Facebook page.
