Halloween 2025 in Elkins: Trick-or-Treating, Events, & Safety
We’ve seen and heard the chatter and questions, and now we have some answers about Halloween events and trick-or-treating here in Elkins. By no means is this an exhaustive list. If we missed something, contact the City Clerk’s Office!
We’ll start by confirming that residential Halloween trick-or-treating hours are on Friday, October 31, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Being that Halloween is a Friday night this year, we urge all drivers – and parents – to be extra cautious.

🎃Tonight, Oct. 23: Boo Mile Inflatable Parade
7:00-9:00pm
Starts at 1201 S. Davis Ave, ends at Davis Ave. and Fourth St.
Why: It’s a hoot, whether you’re participating by walking or running as an inflatable beast during the parade, watching the event along Davis Avenue, or enjoying the “after party” near the corner of Davis Ave. and 4th Street. Or . . . all three options! Perch yourself by the Davis Ave. Bridge for a spooky view.
🎃Friday, October 24: Trunk or Treat
5:00-7:00pm
Phil Gainer Community Center
Why: The Halloween trifecta: Candy, community, and pumpkin carving! Community resources will be available as well. First responders are encouraged to join and arrive in the vehicles.
🎃Saturday, October 25: Howl-o-Ween
2:30-4:00pm
Fancy Paws, Davis Ave. and Third St.
Why: Fancy Paws’ annual Howl-o-Ween party is providing another fun afternoon for humans, canines, and felines. Dress your pets in costumes for fun and a chance to win prizes. Games, pumpkin lattes for dogs, a Howl-o-Ween selfie station, and a pet parade are on the agenda.
🎃Tuesday, Oct. 28: Downtown Trick-or-Treating
5:30-6:30pm
Downtown Elkins
Why: Superheroes, witches, and vampires, oh my! Elkins’ downtown businesses are hosting this free event to provide a safe and fun environment for trick-or-treating. It’s also a great opportunity to support our local shops.
🎃Wednesday, Oct. 29: D&E FCA Trunk or Treat
6:00-7:30pm
Martin Field House, Davis & Elkins College
Why: Hosted by D&E’s FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes), this Wednesday evening activity is a great way to get to know our local college students and give kids another opportunity to show off their costumes.
🎃Friday, Oct. 31: Spooktacular Evening for Kids
5:00-9:00pm
Scott Hill Mansion
Why: Free for kids! Scott Hill’s Magnolia Hall will host a wide range of activities for kids, such as hayrides, a spooky bonfire and, of course, candy. Please come to Scott Hill dressed in your costumes!
🎃Friday, Oct. 31: Neighborhood Trick-or Treating
6:30-8:00pm
In neighborhoods across Elkins
Why: As mentioned above, communities in Elkins shine come Halloween time. And, this is the official citywide trick-or-treating time. Neighbors will know to keep their porch lights on if they’re giving out tricks, and parents will know when it’s safe to take their kids out. Enjoy, and again, please be safe!
