Elkins, WV – March 21, 2026: The garbage collection and bulk item pickup services are on a normal schedule for the entire month of March in Elkins.
Good Friday is Friday, April 3. Regular garbage pickup scheduled for Friday that week will instead be collected a day early on Thursday, April 2. City Hall offices will be closed.

Free Reflective Address Decals
The City of Elkins offers residents and business owners free reflective address numbers. Please don’t let severe weather or darkness hide your home or business when first responders have to arrive on the scene in an emergency.
Getting your free decals is easy:
- Visit the Finance Dept. at the WV Wood Tech Center (at 10 11th St., Suite 3).
- Provide your Elkins address.
- Receive your free reflective numbers.
A clearly visible address saves critical time, and even lives: Please pick up yours today!
The Finance Department’s hours are Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.- to 4:00 p.m.
Sign Up for Emergency Alerts
Elkins City Hall urges residents and business owners to sign up for emergency text alerts. Anyone with a mobile phone can receive important alerts including weather warnings, street closures, and water outages. They will also receive reminders about changes to city services due to holidays.

City Hall Business

The Personnel Committee is holding a special meeting on Tuesday, March 24, at 1:00 p.m. at the Phil Gainer Community Center. Items for discussion include the consideration of applicants for the HR generalist vacancy, as well as next steps on the City’s classification and compensation plan.
The Regional Task Force on Homelessness, Addiction, and Mental Health will meet Thursday, March 26, at the Phil Gainer Community Center. Starting at 1:00 p.m. this meeting is open to the general public.

City Hall Renovations
The City Hall building at 401 Davis Avenue has been closed for renovations since September 2024. Contractors are now working on a $4.1 million project to repair and prevent future damage from flooding; install modern HVAC systems; improve safety, accessibility, and security; and update and modernize workspaces.

Finance Department Updates
Utility and in-city fire fees bills were due March 19. Utility shut-offs will start on April 7 for unpaid utility bills.
