City Hall News: Week of February 15, 2026

ELKINS, WV February 14, 2026 The City of Elkins is offering residents and business owners free reflective address numbers. Please don’t let snow, fog, or darkness hide your home or business if first responders have to arrive on the scene in an emergency.

Getting your free decals is easy:

  • Visit the Finance Dept. at the WV Wood Tech Center (at 10 11th St., Suite 3).
  • Provide your Elkins address.
  • Receive your free reflective numbers.

A clearly visible address saves critical time, and even lives: Pick yours up today!

The Finance Department’s hours are Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.- to 4:00 p.m.

Sign Up for Emergency Alerts

Given the recent winter storms, remember to help our first responders help you.

Elkins City Hall asks residents and business owners to sign up for emergency text alerts. Anyone using a mobile phone can receive important alerts including weather warnings, street closures, and water outages. They will also receive reminders about changes to city services due to holidays.

Sanitation Department Updates

The garbage collection and bulk item pickup services are on a normal schedule for the entire month of February.

City Hall Business

The next scheduled Elkins City Council meeting is Thursday, February 19. Visit https://cityofelkinswv.com/agenda-center/ for up-to-date information about the coming meeting’s agenda.

The following committee and board meetings are scheduled for Tuesday, February 17, at the Phil Gainer Community Center:

  • Sanitary Board, 11:00 a.m.: The agenda includes a discussion about a potential new service line from HomeServe.
  • Finance, 1:00 p.m.: Items of discussion include overtime in the police department; FY 2027 general fund preparation; aligning an HR proposal with a compensation and classification project; and the FY 2027 landfill budget.

City Hall Renovations

The City Hall building at 401 Davis Avenue has been closed for renovations since September 2024. Contractors are now working on a $4.1 million project to repair and prevent future damage from flooding; install modern HVAC systems; improve safety, accessibility, and security; and update and modernize workspaces.

Finance Department Update

Utility and in-city fire fee bills are due February 20. First-due fire fee bills will be mailed out February 15 and are due March 7.
