City Hall News: Week of June 15, 2025

ELKINS, W.Va. — June 13, 2025 — A special City Council meeting is scheduled on Monday, June 16, at 11:00 a.m. to canvass the June 10 Municipal Election. This is a proceeding required by law in which all materials, equipment, and results of an election are reviewed, corrected, and officially recorded prior to the certification of that election.

The certification of the June 10 election results occurs Wednesday, June 18 at 1:00 p.m., also at the Phil Gainer Center.

The Sanitary Board Meeting is Monday, June 16, at 10 a.m. at the Phil Gainer Center. Items of new business include the approval of sewer system invoices, a sidewalk replacement for 12 1/2 Walnut Street, approving invoices related to the vacuum truck dumping station project, revisions to the sewer fund, and a review of personnel policies for field-based employees in the wastewater department.

The Parks and Recreation Commission meets on Wednesday, June 18, at 5:00 p.m. at the Phil Gainer Center; items on the agenda include dead tree removal at Riverbend Park and a WVDOH trail grant for the RCDA industrial park property.

The next City Council Meeting is Thursday, June 26, 7:00 p.m., at the Phil Gainer Center. The agenda is TBA as of press time. Before the meeting at 5:30 p.m., there will be a reception to swear in all City Council members. Light refreshments will be served, and the public is welcome to attend.

City Hall remains closed to the public for renovation and repairs until further notice. All departments are operating and available for service as usual, but in-person appointments will require advance arrangements. All meetings occur at the Phil Gainer Community Center (142 Robert E. Lee Ave. Extension) in Elkins unless otherwise stated.

Utility & in-city fire fee bills are due on June 19.

Business license renewals have been mailed out for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2025, and are due on June 30, 2025.
