8/25 Paving Street Closures
ELKINS, W.Va., August 24, 2026: Sections of three Elkins streets will be closed to traffic Tuesday, August 25, while contractors perform milling work.
Crews plan to work on the following streets in the order listed:
- Yokum Street, from Mole Street to Robert E. Lee Avenue
- Robert E. Lee Avenue, from Yokum Street to Harrison Avenue
- John Street, from Second Street to Third Street
Parking will not be permitted in the affected sections. No-parking signs or cones will be placed in parking spaces, and residents and other motorists should move their vehicles before work begins.
Milling involves removing the upper layer or layers of an existing road surface in preparation for paving. Streets sometimes must be milled when successive applications of asphalt have raised the roadway too high in relation to the curb line.
Drivers should use alternate routes, allow additional travel time, and follow all posted signs and directions from personnel in the work areas.
As with all paving-related work, the schedule may change because of weather, contractor availability, or other operating conditions. The City appreciates the public’s patience while this work is completed.
