Getting around Elkins and the wider Randolph County area is made easier and more affordable thanks to Country Roads Transit (CRT). Since 2006, CRT has served Elkins and the surrounding area as a public transportation partner for the community, providing reliable service to connect residents to work, shopping, and healthcare.

Whether for daily commuting, occasional trips, or when your car is in the shop, CRT offers a practical transportation solution. The service operates on weekdays from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with a simple fare structure designed for easy commuting.

Affordable Fares for Easy Commuting Runs

The base one-way cash fare for any regular route in Elkins is only $1.25 for all riders over the age of 5. Children age five and under ride for free. For frequent riders, an unlimited monthly pass for the Elkins routes is available for $30. Riders should note that operators cannot make change, so having exact fare ready when boarding is required.

Flexible Service with Custom Routes

A key feature of Country Roads Transit is its flexible “deviated route” service. While CRT runs two fixed loops in Elkins—the Elkins Loop North and Elkins Loop South—riders are not limited to stops directly on the main route.

For those living beyond CRT’s Elkins deviated route area, CRT offers “Demand Response” service throughout Randolph County. This door-to-door service requires a reservation made at least one day in advance, with fares based on distance from Elkins city limits, ranging from $3.75 to $10.00 one-way. This service ensures that residents in more rural parts of the county have access to transportation. CRT also makes pre-scheduled monthly trips to communities like Dailey, Harman, Mill Creek, Valley Bend, and Valley Head.

(A brief mention of Upshur County: CRT also provides deviated fixed-route and demand response services in Buckhannon, with a base fare of $1.25.)
