Upshur and Lewis County Flooding: How to Help
ELKINS, W.Va. — July 22, 2026 — After yesterday’s storms, the City of Elkins has been receiving messages how Elkins and Randolph County residents can help with flood relief efforts.
Immediate Needs
Right now, the most urgent needs are non-perishable, high-energy snacks and bottled water.
First Baptist Church, located at 412 Randolph Ave, Elkins, WV 26241, will accept these donations today until 7:00 p.m. and tomorrow from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Find the canopy (shown above); later, a truck will take supplies to Upshur and Lewis Counties.
For now, please do not bring any other supplies or foods, please. Foods that require refrigeration are not practical at the moment. We’ll update you if the immediate needs change. So far, the places with the most urgent needs have no electricity.
How the City of Elkins is Assisting
As far as how our staff has helped with relief efforts so far, several first responders from EFD and EPD helped out with assistance and rescue efforts overnight. Officials from Upshur and Lewis counties have let us know that once the flood waters receive, they will require help from our Operations, Water, and Wastewater Departments.
Mayor Jerry Marco and the entire staff at the City of Elkins want to thank our residents for their offers of help during this extremely difficult time for our neighbors.
For Elkins residents who may need assistance, a list of employees’ phone numbers, which include Operations, Water, and Wastewater, is here: https://cityofelkinswv.gov/directory.
