Phil Gainer Community Center

The Phil Gainer Community Center, once an armory, offers versatile event spaces, including a 10,000‑square‑foot multi‑purpose room, classrooms, and a full kitchen — available for rent for social events, meetings and other community events.

Formerly known as the Elkins Recreation and Event Center, the “Phil Gainer” is open for business and its staff is primed to host your next function.

Located at 142 Robert E. Lee Avenue Extension and nestled on eight acres of city property, this facility includes a 10,000 square foot multi-purpose room complete with a stage area. This room is capable of hosting large private parties, concerts, sporting events or countless other functions. The gymnasium floor is lined for a basketball court, two tennis courts, two pickle ball courts, a volleyball court and four-square. The space is large enough to host any number of events.

There is also a classroom area that is available for those who would like to rent a smaller space for their social event, fundraiser or meeting.

The facility’s kitchen is now fully functional, and includes a commercial grade stove, refrigerator, freezer and ice machine as well as a variety of other kitchen necessities. Ample parking is available in the adjacent lot.
