Bulk & Special Trash Pickups

For disposal of oversized unwanted items or large volumes of trash, the City of Elkins offers both Monthly Bulk Pickups and Special Trash Pickups.

Here are the main differences between the two services:

  • Monthly Bulk Pickup Service: dispose of one large item at no cost, on a set monthly schedule.
  • Special Trash Pickup Service: dispose of as many items as needed for a fee, by appointment.

Monthly Bulk Pickup

Residential and business sanitation customers may dispose of one bulk item per household per month at no additional cost.

Bulk Pickup Schedule

The schedule for free bulk-item pickups is based on the day your regular trash is picked up each week. For July and August 2026, there are no changes to the monthly bulk-item pickup schedule.

To take advantage of this service, place ONE ITEM for bulk pickup CURBSIDE no later than 6 a.m. on the day indicated below. Items must be placed curbside even if your household trash is normally picked up in an alley. Items may not always be collected on the given day.

**This schedule is subject to change based on some U.S. federal holidays and other circumstances, such as during weeks in the summer when the sanitation department could be understaffed. The City of Elkins will make every possible effort to inform residents of these changes through text messages, Facebook posts, alerts, and Saturday updates in the Inter-Mountain.**
