An Invitation to Downtown Business Owners to Help Elkins Celebrate #America250
Updated on June 1, 2026.
As preparations continue for our July 4th weekend festivities and the celebration of the 250th anniversary of the United States, the City of Elkins is encouraging downtown businesses and property owners to help create a festive patriotic atmosphere throughout downtown Elkins.
Businesses are asked to have patriotic decorations in place by June 15 in advance of the holiday events and parade activities planned for the July 4th weekend.
Decorations may include American flags, bunting, patriotic window displays, red, white, and blue lighting, themed storefront displays, or other creative decorations celebrating the nation’s history and community spirit.
A coordinated effort throughout downtown will help enhance the parade route and surrounding festivities while making Elkins an inviting destination for residents and visitors during this historic celebration.
Community participation is greatly appreciated, and assistance may be available for businesses needing help with decorating ideas, materials, or installation support.
Those with questions or who would like assistance are encouraged to contact Erica Plishka at eplishka@cityofelkinswv.gov.
Thank you to all of the businesses, organizations, and volunteers helping make this year’s celebration a memorable community event.
