Why Donate Life Month Matters
Earlier this week, Mayor Jerry Marco declared April as Donate Life Month in Elkins, standing alongside the Skinner family and public officials from North Central West Virginia.
For the Skinner family, this isn’t only a calendar date. It is their lived reality.
Cody Skinner has received a life-saving liver transplant from his wife, Lindsey. Their story is a powerful testament to the gift of organ and tissue donation—proof that one person’s decision can rewrite a family’s future.
Behind the proclamation lies a sobering statistic: More than 100,000 people are currently waiting for a lifesaving transplant across the U.S. While medical science is ready, the supply of donors is not. Every ten minutes, another name is added to the waiting list.
Donate Life Month cuts through the noise. It is a national push to turn intention into action—to move from “I should sign up” to “I am a donor.”
We can help. By registering as an organ, eye, and tissue donor, all of us hold the power to save up to eight lives. Visit DonateLife.net to learn more.
Please share this story or our recent Facebook post. You might just help save someone’s life.
