City of Elkins Honors Police Officers for Life-Saving Actions
Elkins, WV, August 24, 2025: The Elkins Police Department honored three law enforcement officers for their exceptional actions that led to the successful rescue of an elderly man in June. Chief Travis Bennett presented the awards during a ceremony at the Phil Gainer Community Center on Thursday, August 21, during the Elkins City Council meeting that evening.

“This is the best part of my job, being able to recognize officers who went above and beyond in the course of their duties,” said Chief Bennett. “These guys were heroes that day, like they are every day.”
The following awards were presented:
- The Life Saving Medal was awarded to Senior Patrolman Dylan Coffman of the Elkins Police Department for his direct actions that resulted in a life being saved.
- A Letter of Commendation was presented to Patrolman Seth Davis of the Elkins Police Department.
