Elkins, WV – March 14, 2026: The City of Elkins offers residents and business owners free reflective address numbers. Please don’t let severe weather or darkness hide your home or business if first responders have to arrive on the scene in an emergency.

Getting your free decals is easy:

• Visit the Finance Dept. at the WV Wood Tech Center (at 10 11th St., Suite 3).
• Provide your Elkins address.
• Receive your free reflective numbers.

The Finance Department’s hours are Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.- to 4:00 p.m.

Sign Up for Emergency Alerts

Elkins City Hall urges residents and business owners to sign up for emergency text alerts. Anyone with a mobile phone can receive important alerts including weather warnings, street closures, and water outages. They will also receive reminders about changes to city services due to holidays.

Sanitation Department Updates

The garbage collection and bulk item pickup services are on a normal schedule for the entire month of March.

Good Friday is Friday, April 3. Regular garbage pickup scheduled for Friday that week will instead be collected on Thursday, April 2. City Hall offices will be closed.

City Hall Business

The following committee and board meetings are scheduled for the coming week:

• Sanitary Board: Monday, March 16, 10:00 a.m., Phil Gainer Community Center. Items on the agenda include reports from the City’s wastewater superintendent and other staff, as well as the discussion of a service line program from HomeServe.
• Parks & Recreation: Wednesday, March 18, 5:00 p.m., Phil Gainer Community Center.

City Hall Renovations

The City Hall building at 401 Davis Avenue has been closed for renovations since September 2024. Contractors are now working on a $4.1 million project to repair and prevent future damage from flooding; install modern HVAC systems; improve safety, accessibility, and security; and update and modernize workspaces.
